We needed a new toilet for downstairs...the simplest, most readily available, cheapest(!) one on the market. Dh went off dutifully to the diy store to search out some gleaming white ceramic...and look what he came back with. How simple. A toilet to go. With a push flush that the kids think is hilarious. Haven't worked out why yet!

So there you have it. Simple marketing...does what it says on the box!, and i'm using it as a bit of a reminder to myself that we are going. Leaving. Moving away. Soon. Which inturn reminds me that I really need a break from the computer and blogworld. Time really does get sucked away from me when i sit on here so i'm imposing a ban on myself until next saturday.
OK, i'm off to pack and sort.....fuelled by nutella and cava. See you in a week!

When life gives you lemons..

i would say then lets make lemonade but when the lemons are mouldy,old and rotten then lemonade is off the menu. After a particularly horrid week filled to the brim with infuriating phonecalls, letters and email all involving social work and human resources departments ( I even tried a smoke signal but that was by accident and its ok the monitor still works... the melted black patch doesn't seem to bother it!)..what else was there to do but down tools and get out to the lake to feed the locals.

It was mild and breezy yesterday, just enough wind to blow away the cobwebs and toss our worries to the breeze. It was half an hour of calm that I hope I can call back on over the next few days!

With a weekend looming overhead that involves 2 out of 3 kids running cross country for their school, 2 birthday parties (1 is a dreaded swimming party! No fun for the kids that can't swim!), 2 rugby matches (1 away for DS#1 and 1 circus  when Wales are playing, 3 christmas fayres, a farmers market and of course the latest instalment of Robin Hood....I'm going to spend a lot of time thinking about those ducks and muttering to myself.

My dear husband, who I truly love dearly, will not be on hand this weekend.

He will be at a football match tomorrow. The match has some significance so I'm told, so this means that for an afternoon kick off the boys (men-hah!) will be leaving home no later than 9am and aren't likely to return before midnight. Thanks for that. No really!.

This is a beach that the holidaymakers and tourists don't really know about. Best kept that way. OK? No telling. No leaking the secret that its the most amazing beach around.

W.I.P

Wll I think this is the first WIP I've ever done! There's always plenty of work going on, but I never think on a Friday to do anything about it. That and I wouldn't know which WIP to choose! I keep them all in different woven baskets with handles so that I can pick them up and carry them round. The downside of this is...that if I carry it into a room when I'm not 'concentrating'  and leave it there..it could be there for weeks!

Today though I am on a certain mission to make some money quickly. That's never a good plan though is it. Money never comes when you need it...but unless I can raise funds for these, these AND these then I will develop foot rot/trench foot from wearing the battered and beyond hope pair of trekking boots that grace(!) my feet every day. It's not that I don't have other shoes, its just that I'm rebelling against heels and that's cut my options down to this solitary pair. My mission therefore is to knock up some handmade, embroidered and embellished tree decorations for the coming festive season! If I can make about a dozen or so then I will take them to a local shop on Monday and test the water. If the retail giant mini people don't want my goods, then I shall run to the hills with my tail between my legs, sobbing heartily. After I have given myself a talking to and assigned the handmade decorations to family members as seasonal gifts, I will then pour myself a large gin and tonic and vow never to listen to Manda ever again. Yes dear it's your fault I'm venturing into the dragons den!

Stay with me here. Technical issues forbid my photos from coming up. (loud expletives being uttered COHERENTLY and with much forceful meaning!) I will have to go to Flickr, upload the photo and then blog it here. This means I'll be out of synch so I think I have to save this as a draft until that photos up! Phew. Glad I've only had a small beer today. 23 doses of caffeine to aid the sewing but only 1/2 a unit of alcohol!

So forgive me for the less than earth shattering WIP photo but at least its something(!) and the other photo that should appear below this post(fromFlickr) is the book that I bought the other week and mislaid almost as soon as I walked in through the door.

Off to bed now. Busy day tomorrow. We have a family wedding party to go to in the evening WITH the kids, after a day hunting down a copy of Selvedge thanks to info from dolliedaydream, and the obligatory huff and puff because I won't be able to find anything to wear. Lets just say that 'The Family' have a different idea of vintage and funky to me(!).
